SURF TECHNICAL LEADER

This opportunity sits within a brownfield offshore oil and gas project environment, supporting multiple SURF projects across FEED, CFT, detailed engineering, fabrication and offshore installation phases. The role offers broad technical scope across SURF engineering, contractor interface management and project execution, with involvement in complex live-asset and SIMOPS settings. This position will suit candidates with strong experience in SURF design engineering, fabrication, installation engineering and technical coordination across multi-project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership across ongoing and future SURF brownfield projects, supporting activities from early project phases through execution and close-out.
Promote and uphold safety, quality and ethical working practices across all managed and interfaced activities.
Ensure technical requirements, company referentials and applicable local rules and laws are reflected in project and contractual requirements.
Identify technical risks early, support mitigation planning and work proactively to avoid delays and change orders caused by engineering issues.
Act as the focal point for technical matters with headquarters and manage derogation requests and related technical coordination.
Define and validate technical requirements for projects in execution and for projects in FEED stage.
Provide technical support during CFT phases for future SURF projects.
Manage the SURF engineering team to review and validate contractor and engineering company documentation, technical queries and derogation requests.
Ensure engineering deliverables are issued on time and are fit for purpose, with attention to schedule, cost, quality and safety objectives.
Maintain regular communication with project leadership, package leaders and relevant stakeholders on engineering status, key topics and required actions.
Liaise with engineering companies, contractors and headquarters to resolve technical issues and develop practical solutions.
Prepare and manage third-party technical reviews, specialist studies and internal project reviews where required.
Coordinate and support HAZID, HAZOP and other internal review activities within the scope of responsibility.
Support installation teams on technical matters and contribute to offshore work preparation and optimisation.
Assess the engineering, procurement and fabrication impact of change orders.
Organise, lead or participate in technical meetings with contractors, engineering companies, partners and other stakeholders.
Interface with package leaders and QA/QC personnel to support readiness for fabrication and manufacturing phases at vendor premises and construction yards.
Participate in inspections as required and follow contractor procurement and supply activities relevant to the discipline.
Assist company representatives at fabrication sites in resolving technical issues related to welding, coating, NDT and structural disciplines.
Support interface management with related departments to maintain alignment with project work plans.
Assist during offshore project phases and contribute to lessons learned, project feedback and close-out reporting.
Maintain confidentiality of all project documentation and technical information.
Required Education & Certifications:
Engineering degree or equivalent qualification (Required)
Required Experience:
15 to 20 years of professional experience in the oil and gas industry on offshore projects or fields
Approximately 10 years of experience in a similar position with strong SURF engineering exposure
Experience working across multiple projects at different stages within a transverse team structure
Experience covering detailed engineering, procurement, construction, fabrication and offshore execution phases
