TAR Event Leader/Manager

Airswift has been tasked with hiring a contract TAR Manager for an upcoming Turnaround at a chemical facility located in Lake Charles, LA. This is a 6 month+ contract. Per diem available for those eligible. 

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of project management experience / construction management
    • Must have TAR management experience.
  • B.S. Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
    • Open to various backgrounds – mechanical, civil, chemical
  • Active TWIC or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand for long periods of time.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate activities and resolve conflicts between various departments to ensure work plans are executed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must have good computer skills and be proficient at capturing data for historical purposes, and presenting data to management. 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • The Turnaround Event Leader is responsible for managing a specific maintenance turnaround (TA) project
  • The Event Leader’s primary duty is to supervise and ensure that key activities are completed on time
    • Some of these activities will be completed by the leader while other will be delegated
  • During execution the Event Leader is responsible for daily turnaround activities being completed safely and on schedule in a cost-effective manner
    • This requires the leader to oversee, communicate with, and hold accountable the TA team on a daily basis
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Programs; Experience with SAP is HIGHLY preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of FEL and Execution KPIs as defined by Company for turnarounds that will be the basis for controlling the event

  • Have practical knowledge of maintenance, production, planning and scheduling processes obtained through experience and technical training
  • Must be detail oriented and ensure all phases of turnaround plans and schedules are correct

  • Ensure team is competent and follows documented process in reviewing and challenging job plans, schedules, and estimates to produce “best in class” performance
  • Ensure team provides timely and valuable constructability input during FEL process
  • Review, challenge, agree and accept ownership of final plan, schedule and cost estimate
  • Provide input to execution strategies, contractor selection and constructability reviews
  • Assist with development of cost-efficient and safe logistics plan for all turnarounds
  • Ensure contractor performance is managed effectively to meet agreed schedule and budget
  • Plans and co-ordinates the utilization of turnaround execution resources
  • Manages crafts in the field via the execution team
  • Monitors and maintains safety objectives
  • Ensures systems, processes and procedures required to support Turnaround Execution activities are effective and efficiently applied
  • Utilizes agreed KPIs to measure and drive performance improvements associated with all aspects of execution activity
  • Ensures compliance with execution plan & site standards and procedures for all project activities
  • Ensure that completion and handover activities provide a seamless transfer of completed Turnarounds
  • Assist with decisions across event in Execution Stage for site equipment, off-site repairs, shop and craft resources
  • Assist Operations with development and alignment with event close-out punch list
  • Provide input into post-turnaround evaluation and lessons learned process
  • Manage the Turnaround Execution Foreman for: Skills development, consistency in using documented processes, driving contractor performance
  • Provide input to and manage the TA field team during the FEL and execution phases
  • Ensure pre-turnaround activities are accomplished in a timely manner
  • Contact appropriate technical resources for assistance as needed
  • Identify and resolve barriers encountered during turnarounds
  • Conduct and participate in status meetings leading to and during execution
  • Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by Company supervisor
  • Participates in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives as set forth by company
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed
