TAR Event Leader/Manager
Airswift has been tasked with hiring a contract TAR Manager for an upcoming Turnaround at a chemical facility located in Lake Charles, LA. This is a 4-5 month contract. No Per diem available.
The role is focused on turnaround execution, construction management, planning, scheduling, safety performance, and cost-effective delivery within a fast-paced industrial environment. This position offers the chance to lead critical field activity, coordinate cross-functional teams, and help ensure successful project delivery during a key turnaround event.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a specific maintenance turnaround project and ensure key activities are completed safely, on schedule, and in a cost-effective manner.
- Lead daily turnaround execution activities and maintain accountability across the turnaround team.
- Oversee communication and coordination between departments to support efficient delivery of work plans.
- Review, challenge, and take ownership of turnaround plans, schedules, and cost estimates to support strong execution performance.
- Provide constructability input during the FEL process and support development of execution strategies and contractor selection.
- Assist with development of safe and cost-efficient logistics plans for turnaround activity.
- Manage contractor performance to align with agreed schedule and budget objectives.
- Plan and coordinate the use of turnaround execution resources and manage field craft activity through the execution team.
- Monitor and maintain safety objectives across turnaround execution.
- Ensure execution systems, processes, and procedures are applied effectively and in line with site standards and procedures.
- Use agreed KPIs to measure performance and drive improvement across execution activity.
- Support completion and handover activities to provide a smooth transfer at turnaround close-out.
- Assist with execution-stage decisions involving site equipment, off-site repairs, shop resources, and craft resources.
- Support development and alignment of the close-out punch list and contribute to post-turnaround evaluation and lessons learned.
- Manage and support development of the field team, including process consistency and contractor performance.
- Ensure pre-turnaround activities are completed in a timely manner and engage technical resources when required.
- Identify and resolve barriers encountered during turnaround execution.
- Lead and participate in status meetings before and during execution.
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives set by the company.
Must-Have Skills:
- At least 10 years of project management and/or construction management experience.
- Demonstrable turnaround management experience within an industrial or maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance, production, planning, and scheduling processes gained through technical training and practical experience.
- Ability to supervise personnel, coordinate multi-disciplinary activity, and resolve conflicts between departments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct teams and manage field execution activity.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a demanding turnaround environment.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to ensure plans and schedules are accurate and complete.
- Strong problem-solving, training, and coaching capability.
- Ability to develop and conduct meetings for large groups.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with internet, email, and Microsoft programs.
- Ability to capture data for historical purposes and present information to management.
- Knowledge and understanding of FEL and execution KPIs used to control turnaround events.
- TWIC card or ability to obtain one before start (Required).
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods as required on site.
Nice-to-Have:
- B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management (Preferred).
- Background in mechanical, civil, or chemical disciplines (Preferred).
- Experience with SAP (Preferred).
