Airswift is searching for a Tax Senior Analyst to work in a permanent contract in Venezuela with a company in the Technology and Energy sector.

The senior tax professional will be responsible for reviewing, validating, and overseeing tax matters, ensuring compliance with applicable Venezuelan tax legislation, contractual agreements, and Company requirements. The role involves independent review of calculations, tax returns, ancillary reporting obligations, provisions, and supporting documentation, validating the accuracy and appropriateness of tax treatments prior to approval, submission to competent authorities, or accounting recognition.

Acting as a key tax control point, the professional will assess tax implications and potential exposures arising from oil and gas activities, joint venture (JV) agreements, and significant commercial transactions; challenge unsubstantiated or inconsistent tax positions; and ensure that relevant tax risks and contingencies are properly documented, addressed, and escalated.

The position requires solid knowledge of Venezuelan taxation and oil and gas sector tax issues; prior experience with operations in this sector in Venezuela—particularly regarding joint venture structures or partner-operated activities—is highly desirable.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and validate calculations, tax returns, ancillary obligations, payments, and supporting schedules related to operations in Venezuela, ensuring accuracy, completeness, adherence to deadlines, and proper recognition in financial records.

Conduct independent technical reviews of tax bases, rates, assumptions, calculations, documentation, and tax treatments under Venezuelan law, questioning and escalating inconsistencies, unsubstantiated positions, or potential exposures.

Ensure compliance with applicable national and municipal Venezuelan tax requirements.

Review current and deferred tax calculations and coordinate with the Accounting and Controllership departments during monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, ensuring that provisions, accruals, contingencies, reconciliations, and related balances are correctly reflected in the financial statements.

Analyze tax implications and exposures arising from Oil & Gas operations, joint venture arrangements, and partnerships, as well as transactions with operators, contractors, suppliers, service providers, and third parties.

Support tax planning and intercompany/related-party transactions, including transfer pricing analysis, documentation, and compliance, in accordance with Venezuelan tax law and Company policies.

 Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, administrative criteria, and practices of Venezuelan tax authorities, assessing their potential financial and operational impact.

 Provide tax analysis and information required for financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, cash flow planning, and other Controllership requirements. • Support internal and external audits, as well as regulatory reviews, inspections, and information requests.

 Maintain proper tax documentation, reconciliations, review evidence, control records, and audit trails, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, traceability, and appropriate retention of tax information.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; professional accountant registration in Venezuela preferred;

Solid knowledge of Venezuelan tax legislation, including Income Tax, VAT, withholding taxes, municipal taxes, and other applicable tax obligations;

Solid understanding of tax accounting, tax provisions, reconciliations, and financial reporting; knowledge of IFRS is desirable;

 Knowledge of taxation in the Oil & Gas sector, joint venture structures, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions is highly desirable;

Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills;

Experience with joint ventures, partner-operated structures, or similar arrangements in the Oil & Gas sector is highly desirable;
