Job Title:
Technical Safety & Architectural Lead Inspector
Duration: 12-month initial contract
Location: Initial stage is hybrid working between supplier sites, office in Berlin and home.
This opportunity supports a major offshore energy infrastructure programme focused on technical safety, fire protection, life-saving systems and architectural outfitting across verification, supplier surveillance, FATs, yard construction and offshore commissioning. The role offers broad exposure to international manufacturing locations and long-term yard-based inspection activity in Dubai. This position will play a key part in ensuring compliant, safe and operational delivery of fire protection systems, safety equipment and accommodation-related installations.
Required Education:
Degree or certificate in fire protection, safety engineering, mechanical engineering or naval architecture
Required Experience:
Minimum 8 years of QA/QC inspection experience covering fire protection and safety systems and/or architectural outfitting
Minimum 5 years of experience on offshore or marine projects
Experience as a lead inspector, owner's inspector or owner-side representative on offshore substations, HVDC platforms, offshore oil and gas topsides or ships
Proven experience leading and coordinating inspection teams in a yard environment
Experience witnessing FATs and carrying out supplier surveillance at international sub-suppliers
Experience in mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning of offshore systems, including punch list and completion management
Proven experience in inspection of passive fire protection systems including fire-rated divisions, penetration systems and fire doors
Proven experience witnessing tests of fire-fighting and fire detection systems
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of fire protection, safety and architectural systems within offshore or marine environments
Ability to review verification plans, technical documentation and evidence of compliance against applicable technical requirements
Knowledge of relevant standards and codes including DNV-ST-0145, DNV-OS-D301, IMO FTP Code, SOLAS, IMO LSA Code, Marine Equipment Directive, CAP 437, NFPA 11, EN 54, DIN VDE 0833, DIN 14675, EN 3, EN 13501, EN 1627, EN 341, EN 363, EN ISO 7010 and ASR A2.2
Experience with requirements verification and information management systems such as Relatics and Thinkproject
Ability to manage inspection registers, hold points, witness points, surveillance plans, NCRs and punch-list close-out activities
Structured reporting skills for daily, weekly and monthly inspection updates, KPIs and quality status
Fluent English at C1 level
Valid work and travel permits for Europe, with willingness to travel internationally and work long-term in Dubai
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience on offshore HVDC converter platforms, offshore substations, offshore oil and gas topsides or marine projects
Experience as an owner's inspector, owner-side representative or lead inspector on large EPC projects
Yard experience in the Middle East or Asia
Experience with accommodation module fabrication and installation
Experience with passive fire protection inspection and certification management
ICorr or AMPP Passive Fire Protection Inspector certification
VdS, NFPA or equivalent fire protection system certification
Lifeboat and life-saving appliance inspection or service qualification
Experience with SOLAS, IMO LSA Code and Marine Equipment Directive compliance verification
Experience with helideck certification requirements including CAP 437 and ICAO guidance
Experience with EN 54 fire detection systems and integrated fire-and-gas testing
Knowledge of BSH requirements, DNV-ST-0145 and offshore certification processes
NEBOSH International Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification
German language skills
