Telecommunication Engineer
Position Overview
This Telecommunication Engineer opportunity is suited to candidates with strong offshore facilities experience and a technical background in telecommunication engineering design. The Telecommunication Engineer will support project execution through the development of key engineering deliverables for floating offshore facilities, with a focus on safe, fit-for-purpose and cost-effective design. This Telecommunication Engineer position offers exposure to complex project phases including conceptual study, FEED and detailed design development. The role is well suited to a Telecommunication Engineer seeking technically demanding work within the oil and gas sector.
Role Context
This role sits within the oil and gas sector and supports the engineering and delivery of floating offshore facilities such as CPP, FPSO, FSO and FLNG projects. The position involves work across project execution stages including conceptual study, FEED and detailed design development, with support provided to the Telecommunication Lead Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the Lead Engineer and develop telecommunication engineering deliverables for project execution.
- Prepare engineering calculations, analysis, drawings, layouts and package specifications within project schedule and cost requirements.
- Develop basis of design, functional specifications, equipment specifications and scopes of work for telecommunication systems and equipment.
- Contribute to safe, robust, fit-for-purpose and cost-effective design for floating offshore facilities.
- Review FEED and detailed design deliverables produced by subcontractors and provide technical comments.
- Support the identification of design changes in subcontractor deliverables and provide input to the Lead Engineer.
- Maintain documentation and data management in line with the project execution plan.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ideally in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics-Telecommunication or an equivalent engineering discipline from a recognised institution.
- Essential: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in offshore facilities engineering, including projects such as CPP, FPSO, FSO or FLNG.
- Essential: Minimum 5 years of EPCC project experience within a specific engineering discipline role.
- Essential: Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia at minimum Graduate Engineer level.
- Essential: Strong technical capability in telecommunication engineering design, calculations, codes and standards, package follow-up, technical bid evaluation, inspection and testing.
- Desirable: Experience in floater telecommunication design across conceptual study, FEED and detailed design development.
- Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate or registration with a recognised professional body.
