6 -month contract basis to work with a Geothermal project

Position Summary

The Toolpusher is responsible for supervising and controlling all drilling operations activities on a super-light drilling rig utilizing Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) systems. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and successful execution of drilling operations while working closely with the Senior Drilling Supervisor. The Toolpusher promotes the highest standards of health, safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence while leading rig personnel and optimizing drilling performance.

Key Responsibilities

Drilling Operations

  • Supervise and control all drilling operations to ensure the safe and successful delivery of well objectives.

  • Coordinate closely with the Senior Drilling Supervisor to execute drilling programs and operational plans.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Monitor rig performance and implement corrective actions to maximize operational efficiency and minimize non-productive time (NPT).

  • Plan, organize, and schedule drilling operations on a super-light rig equipped with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) systems.

Well Control & Safety

  • Ensure well control requirements are maintained throughout drilling operations.

  • Assist in supervising well kill operations and emergency response activities during well control situations.

  • Promote and maintain a strong Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) culture across all rig activities.

  • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and ensure adherence to permit-to-work systems.

  • Ensure all personnel comply with company safety policies and industry regulations.

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Ensure planned maintenance programs are effectively implemented.

  • Monitor drilling equipment condition and availability to support operational requirements.

  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of drilling consumables, spare parts, and critical equipment.

  • Coordinate repairs, inspections, and certification requirements for drilling equipment.

Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop drilling crews to achieve operational excellence.

  • Foster teamwork and effective communication within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ensure personnel are competent, trained, and capable of performing assigned duties safely and efficiently.

  • Support performance management and workforce development initiatives.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily drilling reports, operational summaries, and equipment status reports.

  • Maintain accurate records in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Report operational risks, incidents, lessons learned, and improvement opportunities.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of drilling experience in Onshore Oil & Gas and/or Deep Geothermal drilling operations.

  • Proven career progression with significant experience as both Driller and Assistant Driller (AD).

  • Minimum 2 years of operational experience within Continental Europe.

  • Experience working on super-light drilling rigs and MPD operations is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of well control principles, drilling operations, and rig equipment management.

Required Certifications

  • IWCF Level 4 (valid)

  • OPITO H2S

  • MIST or BOSIET

  • OEUK Medical Certificate (valid)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in deep geothermal drilling projects.

  • Experience with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) systems.

  • Knowledge of European drilling regulations and standards.

  • Previous supervisory experience in complex drilling campaigns.
