Description of the Service

Role


The Training & Competency Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and maintaining the Operations and Maintenance training and competency assurance program for the NZT/NEP facilities.
The role ensures that all Operations, Maintenance and Technical personnel receive the required training and competency assessments necessary to safely operate and maintain the Power Plant, Carbon Capture Plant and Compression Station prior to commissioning, start-up and handover to Operations.
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall coordinate training activities with GE Vernova, licensors, OEMs, package vendors, project teams and Operations personnel to ensure compliance with project requirements and operational readiness.
Primary Objective:
Deliver a fully implemented Training and Competency Assurance Program ensuring that all Operations and Maintenance personnel are trained, assessed, competent and authorized to safely operate and maintain the NZT/NEP facilities before handover to Operations.
Position Requirements
   

  Training Program Development
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Develop the project training strategy.

  • Establish the Operations and Maintenance training matrix.

  • Define training requirements for all job positions.

  • Develop role-based training plans.

  • Identify mandatory, technical and compliance training requirements.

  • Establish processes for training administration and record management.

  • Support workforce readiness planning.

       Training Needs Analysis
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Conduct training needs analysis for Operations and Maintenance personnel.

  • Identify competency requirements for each job role.

  • Define minimum competence requirements for plant positions.

  • Establish skills matrices for Operations and Maintenance teams.

  • Identify gaps between existing and required competencies.

  • Develop training plans to address competency gaps.

     Training Material Management
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Coordinate receipt of training materials from licensors and OEMs.

  • Review training packages for completeness and suitability.

  • Develop training schedules and training documentation.

  • Maintain training records and training databases.

  • Ensure training materials reflect approved plant procedures and operating philosophies.

  • Control training documentation revisions.

      Vendor Training Coordination
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Coordinate OEM and vendor training activities.

  • Schedule classroom, workshop and field training sessions.

  • Coordinate training delivery for Power Plant systems, Carbon Capture systems, Compression Station systems, Utilities and Balance of Plant systems.

  • Liaise with vendors to ensure all contractual training obligations are fulfilled.

  • Monitor attendance and training completion status.

     Competency Assurance Program
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Develop and implement the competency assurance framework.

  • Define competency assessment processes.

  • Coordinate knowledge and practical assessments.

  • Support development of competence standards for Operations and Maintenance roles.

  • Maintain competency records.

  • Track qualification and authorization status.

  • Support development of personnel certification requirements.

       Commissioning & Operational Readiness Support
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Participate in operational readiness activities.

  • Coordinate training delivery during commissioning and startup phases.

  • Ensure personnel are trained prior to system handovers.

  • Maintain training readiness dashboards.

  • Monitor completion of mandatory training programs.

  • Support mobilization of Operations and Maintenance personnel.

     Compliance Training Management
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Ensure completion of mandatory compliance training.

  • Maintain training records required for audits.

  • Track expiry dates of certifications and qualifications.

  • Coordinate refresher training programs.

  • Support compliance with COMPANY and regulatory requirements.

    Competency Assessment Coordination
The Training & Competency Coordinator shall:

  • Coordinate written, verbal and practical assessments.

  • Maintain assessment records.

  • Support development of authorization and certification processes.

  • Monitor personnel progression through training programs.

  • Coordinate reassessment activities where required.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial training, competency assurance or workforce development.

  • Experience in Power Generation, Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical, Carbon Capture or Process Industries.

  • Proven experience supporting commissioning and startup projects.

  • Experience coordinating OEM and vendor training programs.

  • Experience developing training matrices and competency frameworks.

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Qualifications


Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in:

  • Engineering

  • Technical Education

  • Learning & Development

  • Industrial Training

  • Operations Management

  • Human Resources Development

The Training & Competency Coordinator shall work under the Operations and Maintenance Manager
