UFR Engineering & Technical Lead

Location: Paris, France
Contract: 12 Months Renewable
Schedule: Residential (Monday to Friday)

Vacancy Overview:

Airswift is supporting one of its major Oil & Gas clients in the recruitment of an experienced UFR Engineering & Technical Lead to join a high-profile offshore development project based in Paris, France.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for all Umbilicals, Flowlines, and Risers (UFR) activities throughout the project lifecycle, including engineering, fabrication, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases. This role requires extensive deepwater project experience and strong expertise in subsea engineering, including high-pressure (HP) and high-temperature (HT) environments.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead all engineering and technical activities associated with the UFR package.

  • Manage the design, engineering, fabrication, testing, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of flowlines, risers, umbilicals, and associated subsea structures.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, international codes, and industry best practices.

  • Identify and manage deepwater engineering challenges, including HP/HT operating conditions.

  • Act as the technical authority for all UFR-related matters within the project.

Engineering & Design

  • Review, approve, and validate engineering deliverables produced by contractors during EPCI phases.

  • Lead pipeline, riser, and umbilical installation engineering activities.

  • Coordinate engineering studies, surveys, and technical assessments required for project execution.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.

  • Develop installation methodologies and procedures in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Documentation & Project Management

  • Develop and maintain all technical documentation related to the UFR package.

  • Contribute to key project documents including:

    • Statement of Requirements (SOR)

    • Field Development Plan (FDP)

    • Project Execution Plan (PEP)

    • Project Quality Plan (PQP)

    • Risk Registers

  • Participate in project reviews and technical decision-making processes.

Contractor & Fabrication Management

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with UFR contractors.

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the UFR engineering team.

  • Monitor fabrication, testing, and qualification activities across multiple fabrication yards.

  • Ensure QA/QC and HSE requirements are consistently implemented.

  • Review contractor technical documentation, deviation requests, technical queries, and engineering modifications.

Installation, Testing & Commissioning

  • Oversee preparation and execution of:

    • FAT

    • EFAT

    • SIT

    • SWT

    • CDT

    • Qualification testing programs

  • Ensure readiness for offshore installation activities.

  • Supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

  • Support equipment handover processes between project packages and contractors.

Interface & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate interfaces with FPSO, SPS, and other project packages.

  • Support relationship management with Partners, Concessionaires, and key stakeholders.

  • Participate in technical workshops, committee meetings, and project reviews.

  • Deliver timely reporting and recommendations to the UFR Manager.

HSE & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of HSE and quality performance.

  • Ensure full compliance with Company Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Anti-Corruption policies.

  • Review all technical documentation to verify proper consideration of HSE and operational risks.

  • Establish and promote safe working practices across all project phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, preferably in:

    • Subsea Engineering

    • Pipeline Engineering

    • Offshore Engineering

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Related disciplines

  • Fluent English and French (written and spoken).

  • Strong knowledge of international offshore engineering standards and subsea codes.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience within the offshore Oil & Gas industry.

  • Extensive experience in:

    • UFR Engineering

    • Subsea Pipeline Systems

    • Deepwater Developments

    • EPCI Project Execution

    • Offshore Installation

    • Pre-commissioning & Commissioning

  • Proven experience managing studies and execution phases of major offshore projects.

  • Previous experience with leading UFR contractors is highly advantageous.

  • Experience in HP/HT and deepwater environments is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated success working in large, multicultural, international project environments.
