Frade FPSO

Case Study

Background

Frade is a subsea development located in the Northern Campos Basin off the coast of Brazil, with wells tied back to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

Challenge

The project required recruitment of expatriate and Brazilian offshore professionals for over 100 positions, which needed to be filled within a three-month time frame, logistical support to ensure employees met proper requirements prior to starting work, as well as organisation of quick mobilisation, sometimes within one day, in order to commence operations on the vessel.

Airswift Solution

Airswift established expectations with the client by attending meetings to get a full understanding of the job descriptions and what they were looking for in a candidate. Airswift assembled a team of 12 recruiters, four operation analysts, and three finance employees to support the large requirement. A strategy was developed, and Airswift successfully provided the following:

  • A streamlined recruitment and training process, designed to be implemented within three months, improving the efficiency and quality of the hiring process
  • Utilised internal databases, social media, and external job boards to immediately source candidates from local areas and the global expatriate community with previous FPSO experience
  • Vetted candidates to ensure all workers possessed the necessary experience, language skills, and technical qualifications
  • Provided regular communication through meetings and reviews with the client to ensure constant adaptation to their needs and requirements
  • Arrangement of medical examinations, including psychometric testing (palográfico), and language testing (prepona) to ensure compliance and high standards
  • Full mobilisation services including travel logistics for flights and ground transport, accommodation, and immigration support
  • 24/7 emergency assistance and complete on-site support to both national and expatriate contractors
  • Provision of necessary training including HSE, CBSP, HUET and various other safety and technical-specific training required by the client

Results

  • Analysed over 4,000 qualified resumes and screened over 2,000 candidates
  • Held more than 1,000 face-to-face interviews and submitted 323 candidates
  • Successfully placed 110 candidates to the project within the three-month time frame
  • Completed more than 300 logistics on time without mistakes
  • Administered 15 medical exams per person
  • Maintained a contractor turnover rate of 4.7%, compared to the Brazilian oil industry’s average standing between 25%-40%
  • Selected as Master Service Provider for all contingent labour, out of five global contingent labour providers
