Our client is a private college that specialises in programs designed for students who learn differently. As one of the only accredited higher education institutions in the United States that exclusively offers programs for students with diagnosed learning disabilities, attention disorders and autism, they offer bachelor and associate degree programs in the arts and sciences.
Our client was in the process of hiring an essential employee who would be in charge of recruiting students. The employee was a Canadian citizen based in Ontario.
At the final stages of the hiring process, just as the agreements were about to be signed, the client hit a major obstacle. They had just learned that their payroll provider was not able to pay international employees based in foreign countries.
They also did not have the resources required to send net pay to a foreign bank account or submit all of the regulatory filings and tax payments to the Canadian Revenue Agency.
The client needed to find a solution urgently or there was very real risk of losing this important hire.

We were able to deliver a fully compliant payroll system that included clear gross to net calculations, as well as accurate and timely tax deductions and submissions.
Perhaps most importantly of all, we were able to do all of these things at speed.
Within days of our very first phone call with the client, we successfully onboarded the employee. This has enabled the client to employ the right candidate in a fully compliant manner for the role and maintain full compliance with Canadian employment regulations.
