Case Study
The Wheatstone LNG project is one of Australia's largest resource developments and the country's first natural gas hub. It is comprised of a gas plant and two LNG trains fed from offshore gas fields at Wheatstone, Lago, Julimar and Brunello in Australia.
The $30 billion project has a future annual capacity of 15m tonnes and is expected to deliver increased security of supply in the region, creating significant benefits to the local and national economy.
The project required mass staffing in a remote location against a backdrop of competition for skilled workers in the LNG industry and a global shortage of qualified engineers.
In addition, there was a need to recruit and retain key workers with LNG experience across a range of disiplines including Construction, Engineering, Design, HSE, Project Controls and Contract Management.
Airswift provided contingent labour to the project as well as full Global Mobility services including immigration support, visa services, assignment on-boarding and off-borading, training and payroll support. These services covered contractors transitioning and relocating from country to country throughout the project.
On-the-ground support was provided to contractors through our Perth and Brisbane teams in Australia with additional support provided by Airswift offices in Singapore, South Korea and the United States.
At peak, Airswift provided 140 contractors over the course of eight years. Airswift recruited and retained key local and expatriate workers in an efficient and timely manner, providing all resources required by the project and ensuring top tier service and seamless transition across several countries.
