An IT and construction project manager plays a crucial role in overseeing planning, reducing errors, and keeping schedules on track, with a strong focus on IT infrastructure needs.
With 16 years of experience, Greg Violette has become a confident leader, skilled at supervising teams and ensuring successful project delivery. After three years of working with Airswift, Greg describes the partnership as “the perfect fit.”
The first meeting with Airswift
Greg was working remotely when Airswift contacted him via LinkedIn about an open position as Senior Project Manager for the Austin Independent School District. Keen to return to the field after three years of decommissioning servers, the opportunity felt like the ideal chance to do what he does best: working with K–12 schools and collaborating with people.
“When Airswift reached out, it just seemed like the perfect fit. It's been a great experience.”
The role of a school district project manager
As Senior Project Manager for the Austin Independent School District, Greg is responsible for deploying devices for students and staff, as well as overseeing the modernisation of more than 40 campuses. His work covers every technology element involved in these projects, from structured cabling to audiovisual systems, and even extends to physical security.
“I need to make sure that technology doesn't get forgotten in the construction piece, which is very common in our world.”
Navigating industry challenges
With previous experience in school districts, Greg knew the hiring process could be slow due to bond-funded projects and mandatory security checks. Even so, his overall impression was highly positive.
“It was a long process, but it was done properly. Probably as good as it could be.”
Continued support and seamless communication
Over the past three years working with Airswift, Greg speaks highly about the support he has received, particularly from Sidney and James.
“Communication has always been really good, even during transition times between account managers.”
Before joining Airswift, Greg worked with another recruitment agency, an experience he describes as “a nightmare.” Communication was left until the very last moment before a contract renewal deadline.
“I'm much happier with Airswift than I was with my past contracting company recruiter.”
Why Greg chose Airswift
Although the partnership is relatively recent, Greg sees it as a long-term relationship. He says he has always felt comfortable with the account managers, and the process has been refreshingly “low stress.”
“I'd like to keep doing business with Airswift. Absolutely would love to continue working here.”
